Step back in time as you travel through the four corners of Morocco on our Kingdom of Marrakech tour of Morocco.

Visit medieval imperial cities, ancient Roman settlements, Barbary coast pirate ports and experience a magical night in the Morocco Sahara Desert at a desert camp on the soaring Erg Chebbi sand dunes. This tour of Morocco starts in Marrakech and highlights the exotic trade capitals and staging posts along the trade routes of the old trans-Sahara merchant camel caravans that once travelled from Western African to Europe and the East, carrying gold, spices, salt and other exotic riches. You will explore the ancient souks and markets of Marrakech, Fez and Essaouira and follow the trade routes through mountain gorges and Morocco’s Sahara Desert passing soaring sand dunes and lush oases. Travel to Chefchaouen – the “blue town”, Tangier and the historic north Atlantic coast.

Your Morocco travel adventure begins when you arrive at Marrakech Airport where you are met by your Berber Treasures Morocco driver at the scheduled group transfer time and welcomed to UNESCO world heritage Marrakech, the Jewel of the South. Your Morocco tour immerses you in the magic of Marrakech staying at one of the atmosphere Marrakech riads. Overnight in Marrakech riad.

Marrakech

Today, you delve into the wonder and allure of Marrakech on a full-day city tour of Marrakech with your expert local Marrakech travel guide. Your guided heritage tour of Marrakech immerses you in the sights, sounds and smells of the UNESCO world heritage old walled medina: La Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa, Djemaa El-Fna Plaza with its magicians, story tellers and snake charmers and Marrakech’s famous souks and markets. Marrakech – Essaouira

Heading to Morocco’s Atlantic coast your travel to Essaouira. This charming, colourful fishing port, once a famous trade port during the days of the trans-Saharan camel caravan trade, is a UNESCO world heritage site. You have time to discover the town’s relaxed medina, souks and colourful fishing port. Overnight in Essaouira riad. (Breakfast)

Essaouira – High Atlas Mountains

Heading inland your destination today is Morocco’s majestic High Atlas Mountains. Making your way into the western region of these Mountains you see stunning landscapes of scenic valleys, towering mountain peaks with small Berber villages clinging to the steep mountainsides. Overnight in High Atlas Mountains. (Breakfast)

High Atlas Mountains – Tizi n’Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate

Today you set out for the Moroccan Sahara Desert. Travelling deep into the High Atlas Mountains you cross via Tizi n’Tichka pass, the highest pass in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Winding down to the eastern face of the Mountains you enter Morocco’s culturally rich Sahara Desert. The first desert destination on your tour of Morocco’s desert is Ait Ben Haddou, a spectacular UNESCO world heritage mud kasbah village. Continue to the nearby desert oasis town of Ouarzazate, located on the crossroads of ancient desert camel caravan trade routes and nestled alongside the towering High Atlas Mountain peaks. Ouarzazate & Skoura

This morning you explore some of the lovely traditional oasis areas of this desert region. In the Ouarzazate oasis area you can find cane weavers cutting, drying and weaving cane into all manner of products, impressive Taourit Kasbah (exterior only). At beautiful Skoura oasis area you find one of the oldest kasbahs of the desert region – Kasbah Amridil – and discover tiny villages and kasbahs old and new set amongst lush date palm, almond, fig, pomegranate and olive groves, henna and herb gardens. Return to your accommodation for some free time. Overnight in Ouarzazate area. (Breakfast)

Ouarzazate – Roses Valley – Todra Gorge – Erfoud – Merzouga (Erg Chebbi)

Leaving Ouarzazate you travel along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through the Roses Valley to the Berber town of Tingehir and the Todra Oasis with its extensive palm groves nestled at the base of the High Atlas Mountains. Following the path of the Todra River through the Oasis you enter beautiful Todra Gorge. Resuming your journey, you continue your discovery of Morocco’s Sahara Desert make your way via the Berber desert town of Erfoud to Merzouga, a small desert Berber village situated at the foot of the soaring Erg Chebbi sand dunes. Tonight you stay in a traditional desert kasbah located at the fringe of the dunes. Overnight in Merzouga area kasbah. (Breakfast & Dinner)

Erg Chebbi: Desert Villages & Desert Camp

This morning your Kingdom of Marrakech tour itinerary focuses on the culture of the desert Berber people, including a visit of the Merzouga oasis and village area, the home territory of the Berber nomad famed “blue men”. Travelling by a 4-wheel vehicle you head to the peacefully secluded eastern section of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes where you find your desert camp, blending Berber authenticity with modern comfort. Here, you can imagine the past days of the Berber camel caravans, joining your sunset camel train ride led by your local Berber camel guide or you can choose to relax at your camp. Experience the warm hospitality of Morocco’s desert Berber culture with a magical night under the stars in the heart of the Sahara in authentic comfort: Berber tents equipped with real beds and private ensuite bathrooms. Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Eastern High Atlas Mountains – Midelt – Ifrane (Middle Atlas Mountains) – Fez

Early risers can watch the sunrise over this magnificent desert setting. Departing the Erg Chebbi area your path is never far from the Ziz River through the Ziz Valley to the verdant Ziz Gorge with its vast date palm groves. Then farewell the Moroccan Sahara Desert, as your Berber Treasures Morocco tour takes you across the eastern High Atlas Mountains on your way to Midelt. The next leg of your Morocco tour route passes through Alpine forests of cedar, oak and pine as you cross the Middle Atlas Mountains via the town Ifrane and make your way to the old imperial city of Fez. One of the great medieval trade capitals of the world and a UNESCO world heritage site, here you immerse yourself in the traditional Fessi culture staying in one of the lovely Fez riads. Fez

Delve into this magnificent medieval treasure with a full-day heritage tour of Fez, one of Morocco’s oldest imperial cities. Fes – Volubilis – Chefchaouen

Your tour of Morocco continues north to the ancient Roman town of Volubilis. This UNESCO world heritage site is Morocco’s premier Roman site, one of the best preserved in Africa, containing many significant Roman buildings and extraordinary world renowned mosaics. Climbing into the Rif Mountains, your Berber Treasures Morocco tour takes you to the pretty Rif Mountain town of Chefchaouen, the famous blue town, with its lovely old medina streets of blue washed houses. Chefchaouen – Tangier – Asilah

The last northward bound section of your Morocco travel takes you to the ancient port town of Tangier, the Mediterranean gateway to Africa. After an orientation tour of Tangier visiting the city’s principal sights, you turn to Morocco’s Atlantic coast and travel to Asilah, a beautiful little historic port with Portuguese colonial fortifications and Barbary Coast pirate past. Asilah – Rabat – Casablanca

Heading south along the Atlantic coast your Berber Treasures Morocco tour takes you to the imperial city of Rabat, the capital of the Kingdom and another UNESCO world heritage site. Exploring the city’s ancient heritage, your Rabat tour takes you from the stunning Oudaya Kasbah, historic Hassan Tower, and unique Mohammed V Mausoleum, to the medieval Chellah, situated in the ruins of the ancient Roman Sala Collonia. The final leg of your tour of Morocco takes you to arguably the most famous of Morocco’s city, Casablanca. Here you orientation to the city introduces you to Casablanca’s principal sights including the impressive Hassan II Mosque, La Corniche and Mohammed V Square. Overnight in Casablanca hotel.
