Depart Casablanca for the imperial city of Rabat, the capital of the Kingdom and a UNESCO world heritage site. In Rabat you will explore the ancient heritage of this old imperial city including Oudaya Kasbah, the Hassan Tower, the Mohammed V Mausoleum and, if time permits, the medieval Necropolis of Chellah, situated in the ruins of the Roman town of Sala Collonia. You have a relaxed start to the morning. Delve into Tangier’s rich and fascinating past with an orientation tour of the city’s principal sights before heading south into the Rif Mountains to the beautifully situated Chefchaouen. The blue-washed houses populating Chefchaouen’s lovely old medina have led to it being dubbed the blue town. Overnight in Chefchaouen riad.

Your tour to Fez travels through Morocco’s Rif Mountains south to the ancient Roman town of Volubilis where you will explore this UNESCO world heritage sites Roman ruins and marvel at the world renowned Roman mosaics. A short distance away lays the UNESCO world heritage 17th century imperial city of Meknes established by Mouly Ismail, the second Alaouite sultan. In the old Meknes medina you will see the famous massive gate of Bab el Mansour, the original entrance to the 17th century city, and the Agdal Basin. Your Morocco travel adventure continues to Fez. The southward leg of your tour of Morocco travels via the Middle Atlas Mountain town of Ifrane south to Midelt, crosses the eastern region of the mighty High Atlas Mountains and follows the Ziz River into the Moroccan desert. Making your way through the Ziz Valley and beautiful Ziz Gorge, a desert oasis with vast date palm groves, passing the remains of old ksars (Berber fortified settlements), you arrive to Merzouga, a small desert Berber village situated on the edge of Morocco’s spectacular Sahara Desert sand dunes known as Erg Chebbi. Today you have your first experience of Morocco’s desert culture as you tour the Merzouga oasis area the home territory of the “Blue Men”, desert Berber known for their striking indigo blue gandoras and turbans. There is some afternoon time for relaxation or self exploration before you take a 4-wheel drive vehicle through the lower Erg Chebbi sand dunes to your desert camp in the peacefully secluded eastern section of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes.
